Standards Australia expands executive team

Today, Adrian O’Connell, Standards Australia’s Chief Executive Officer announced an expanded executive team to support the growth of Australia’s national standards body as it accelerates its transformation program.As a result of these changes, Standards Australia’s Executive Team will comprise:

  • Adrian O’Connell, Chief Executive Officer
  • Emma Lowes, General Manager People and Performance
  • Kareen Riley-Takos, General Manager Operations
  • Stefan Savva, General Manager Commercial and Products
  • Adam Stingemore, General Manager Engagement and Communications

Mr O’Connell said in announcing the changes, “I am delighted to announce this new functional structure today, and welcome Stefan Savva and Emma Lowes to the Executive Team.

“We are operating in an increasingly complex and challenging business environment. The broadening of our executive team and alignment of functional responsibilities will support our ambitious strategic plan. Standards Australia’s new strategic plan 2020-2025 puts the customer at its core, be that customer a contributor or an end user,” said Mr O’Connell.

Standards Australia is now comprised of four business divisions:

People and Performance: Led by Emma Lowes, incorporating human resources, learning and development and talent acquisition. Emma will also lead Standards Australia’s customer service and front-of-house teams together with business systems and process improvements.

Operations: Led by Kareen Riley-Takos, the operations team will lead standards development, publishing and content transformation together with the technology and data teams.

Commercial and Products: Led by Stefan Savva, this team will drive commercial strategy and partnerships through both Standards Australia’s direct and indirect distribution and licensing teams. The product and product research functions will also sit within this group.

Engagement and Communications: Led by Adam Stingemore, this team will bring together stakeholder engagement nationally and internationally, strategic advocacy, research support and government relations. A new marketing and communications team will be established to support Standards Australia’s direct and indirect distribution teams.

Mr O’Connell concluded by saying, “Our new strategic plan builds on our recent success and these changes announced today will further enhance our capacity to deliver even greater value and service to the Australian community”.

The changes are effective from today.
